Aryn Week 4: Comfort & Community

Community is one of the most important things that one may look for in a school. Community is the best thing that Donna Klein Jewish Academy has to offer. This past weekend we were able to come together as one and have the most incredible experience. From sitting all together at dinner or swimming all together at the pool, we experienced the comfort of a community at all times. Donna Klein Jewish Academy’s faculty and staff made sure that we all felt comfortable and happy at every point in the weekend. Ms. Delbo spent hours upon hours to make this experience the best we've ever had. The games and activities were planned out perfectly, and the mixing of grades made sure that everyone got to know each other on a closer level. We became so close with one another and were able to hang out not just with our friends, but with our teachers, faculty, and students in different grades than us. When we got to Islands of Adventure, you could see teachers walking around with students, and students from different grades going on rides together. That is something that most schools don't offer, that sense of community and comfort are rarely found. Yet, Donna Klein Jewish Academy outdoes itself. If you were to ask a student if they felt comfortable at Donna Klein, without a doubt I think that they would say: Yes, absolutely. While this is only my second year at Donna Klein, I will always think of it as home and my safe space.

Do you feel the sense of community that Donna Klein has to offer?

  1. I really understand where you are coming from in this blog post. I first came to Donna Klein in the middle of the year in kindergarten. Even at such a young age, I was able to feel so welcomed and immediately knew that I loved the Donna Klein community. Within the last decade, that sense of community has never faded, and I manage to appreciate it more and more each year.

  2. When deciding where to go to high school after 8th grade, I was strongly considering transferring to a public school to get the "traditional" high school experience, however, I decided not to. My main 2 reasons for staying at DKJA were the Jewish aspect and the community. To me there is nothing more special than having a community that you are a part of where you truly feel like you belong. The sense of community that I feel daily at DKJA is so amazing. Going on the Shabbaton reminded me of how strong our community is even at times when I lose sight of it.
