David Week 2: Busch Gardens' Abundance of Rollercoasters
September 6, 2022
I love roller coasters. I mean, what's not to love? The wind in your face, the rush of adrenaline, the thrill of the ride. The scarier the coaster, the better. There are many amusement parks that don't have any real roller coasters, only anticlimactic digital rides that have you going nowhere. This past weekend, my family went to visit my grandparents in Tampa. In addition to seeing them, my family went on a trip to Busch Gardens. Busch Gardens is one of the few parks that I have been to that has a ton of real roller coasters. My parents didn't go on any, and my sister only went on a few. Not me. I went on all but one. I'm here to tell you about a few of the rides I went on, and how they affected me.
The ride in Busch Gardens that I enjoyed the least was the Sand Serpent. The Sand Serpent is a ride that I did not find to be that entertaining. I noticed while waiting in line that I was not the main demographic. The line consisted of children varying from the ages of 3 and 11. After waiting ten minutes in line to ride the Sand Serpent, it was finally my time to go on the ride. I was so unimpressed with this childish ride. It was relatively slow, and very short. Of course, I'm sure if I was younger I would have enjoyed it much more. I did notice that the structure and smoothness of the ride was high quality. After going on this ride, I was disappointed, and a little angry due to it wasting my time. The Sand Serpent was definitely something, but it didn't even compare to my favorite ride at the park...
The Iron Gwazi is the tallest coaster in North America, and the world's fastest and steepest hybrid coaster. A hybrid coaster is a roller coaster where the track is made out of steel. With speeds going up to 76 miles/hour, the Iron Gwazi is easily the most thrilling, fear inducing, and absolutely insane ride that I have ever been on. It has a 206 foot-tall peak, and a 91º drop that has you screaming for your life. I waited an hour in line to ride the Iron Gwazi, and it was worth every minute. I have never in my life been on a roller coaster so intense as this one. Out of every roller coaster I went on that day, the only ride I screamed on was the Iron Gwazi. After riding this amazing ride, I literally had to sit down on a bench for a minute.
Spending time at Busch gardens was an amazing experience, and I really hope I can do it again sometime soon. I think it's safe to say that Busch Gardens is officially my favorite amusement park. What's your favorite amusement park?

Over the summer, on a camp field trip, I went to Six Flags New England! I had anxiety at first, but then I went on the tallest and steepest ride there! It was called Superman and went 77mph and had a 221 foot drop; I completely understand what you're saying about how the adrenaline and wind in your face is really the cherry on top. The roller coasters you went on seem so exciting, and, for the record, I like the digital rides, too! Harry Potter and the Escape from Gringotts in Universal Studios was so fantastical and thrilling for me, even though it may not be considered a "real" rollercoaster.
ReplyDeleteLike you, I used to love amusement parks. During the rare occurrences in which my family actually agreed to take me to an amusement park, I was overcome with joy and excitement, anticipating a fun-packed day of thrill inducing rides. However, recently I have come to the realization that amusement parks simply do not excite me as much as they used to. Perhaps this is a consequence of growing up, or maybe the amusement parks I have gone to recently haven't been up to par with my standards. Regardless, your blog reminded me of the excitement that amusement parks had previously evoked. Maybe I will go to Busch Gardens as well one day. Not only am I hoping to finally achieve that same thrill that has recently been lacking, but part of me also hopes to achieve a sense of nostalgia from my childhood.
