Jolie Week 3: My Favorite Place: The City (New York City)
I have always had a connection with New York. Both of my parents were born and raised New Yorkers and most of my extended family still lives there. Since my parents were New Yorkers, I have been traveling there very frequently from a young age. For as long as I can remember I have had the opportunity to experience things that are uniquely New York. When I first arrive in the city I immediately recognize the sound surrounding me. Some people find this city noise a nuisance, but I find it comforting. From the trains to the traffic and the people all put together creates such a distinct noise that can’t be duplicated anywhere else.
Oddly enough although I am anything but an outdoors type of person, being in the city makes me want to spend most of my time walking outside. When I'm in New York walking doesn't seem like a chore. No matter which way you walk there is always something to see or do. New York has so much to offer in such a small space that walking around the city is always an adventure. Even if I have nothing to do for the day I am still able to have a packed and eventful day just by walking around and finding things to do along the way.
I would be remiss if I didn't mention how amazing the food is in New York. From a pretzel on the street to a nice dinner, nothing beats the food in the city. Two foods that you can not convince me otherwise that are better anywhere else are bagels and pizza. You will never find a better bagel than the ones in New York. Nothing is better than waking up and walking a few feet to any bagel place and knowing that you are going to receive a warm crusty on the outside doughy on the inside incredible bagel with the perfect schmear. Don't even get me started on the pizza in the city. Some may say it’s the water and I’m not a culinary expert but I do know that nothing compares to a fresh hot slice of pizza from Joe’s Pizza on Broadway.
Although I could go on and on about my love for the city I will save that for a future blog. If you have never been to New York a highly recommended a trip soon so you can understand my deep love for everything that the city has to offer. New York City has always been my favorite place and over time that love continues to grow. What would you say your favorite place is?
I have been to New York many times, and I do enjoy it. My favorite place to visit in New York is Buffalo.
ReplyDeleteAs someone who has lived in New York for most of her life, I can definitely agree with everything you wrote. I feel the same joy and comfort that the City brings you, whenever I go back, even though I lived there for 8+ years.
