Aryn Week 7: Summer 2019 - The Best of Them All
While most kids my age spend their summers at sleepaway camps, I spent mine traveling. Whether it was a 7-hour plane ride or a quick 30-minute drive, it was safe to say that I was always doing something. Summer 2019 may have been the best one yet. My family and I spent the whole summer traveling around Europe. We started in Barcelona, Spain, then headed to Italy, left for France, made it to Greece and its islands, and lastly, arrived in Malta. We took this vacation to spend time with each other and experience all of Europe's cultures and wonders.
Starting in Barcelona, we took a tour of the Sagrada Familia and Park Guell. My family was able to visit all the beautiful architecture, as well as enjoy all the food and activities. As soon as we left for Italy, the trip became my all-time favorite. Our first stop in Italy was Rome; since this was going to be my third time in Rome, we could skip all the classic touristy spots such as the Colosseum, the Trevi Fountain, the Pantheon, etc., and value the well-known charm of Rome. Traveling around with my sisters, tasting all the delectable pizza and gelato, and seeing all the gorgeous sites allowed me to appreciate the beauty that Italy brightly shines. After Rome came Florence. Florence does not get the recognition it deserves; it was one of the most beautiful cities I have ever visited. We witnessed the live painters, relished in the incredible pasta and pastries, and glimpsed a piece of the Renaissance.
France, where do I begin? As most of you may not know, my father's whole side of the family is French, so France is a place that I hold very dear to my heart. Paris has always been one of my favorite places to visit. The food, the sites, my family, and the ambiance make the city one of the best places.
Greece will forever be my all-time favorite country. Athens holds the solid architectural aspects of the country, while the islands, Santorini, Mykonos, and Corfu, keep the relaxation and calmness that appeals to everyone. Santorini quickly became my favorite just as we stepped foot on the Island. The iconic blue roofs, the glimmering dark, yet still clear, blue Sea, and the sharp smell of fresh seafood and saltwater all compiled to become my most favored place on Earth.
Malta holds the most undiscovered gems in the world. The bright blue caves, the loud sounds of the Seawater hitting the rocks, and the most photograph-worthy artwork enhance the wonderfulness of visiting Malta. This trip around Europe will always be one of my favorite memories with my family.
What is your favorite destination that you have visited?
My favorite vacation was a trip to London with my mom. It was just the two of us and we had the best time ever. We went to high tea, the Royal Opera House to see a ballet and we would spend our days shopping at Harrods. This trip might not seem like the most extravagant trip but it was definitely the most memorable to me.
