David Week 7: Driving Obstacles
Driving is fun. Ever since I got my learner's permit, I have enjoyed the thrill of driving (but this doesn't mean that I'm not a safe driver). I was so pumped to get my license that day after my birthday, but I booked the DMV appointment too late. As of October of 2022, I was scheduled to get my license on December 1. I was distraught. Towards the middle of October, I started taking professional driving lessons. It was great! I drove on the highway, I drove for hours on end, and I even drove my friend to school! I got a lot better at driving and was really proud. My teacher taught me so much about the rules of the road. She even helped my family get the date of my driving test moved closer. At that point, it was scheduled for November 10. I was extremely excited, and couldn't wait for the day to come. I had spent hours making a 6-hour driving playlist and was really happy with it. My friends were all really pumped for me to drive them around, and so was I. As of today, a hurricane has been announced. My driving test is still scheduled for the 10th, but my license pickup has been moved, once again, to November 14. Assuming that I pass the test, at least I will have my license for the week to come.
Have you ever had such a momentous occasion in your life postponed on short notice?

I completely relate to the desire and anticipation of finally getting a driver's license as my license will be postponed since I will not be getting mine when I am supposed to April 2023) since I am away in Israel for the semester. However, I am not missing out on an opportunity to spend a semester abroad just for a license that I can get when I am back. While I do wish I had my license at the moment, I am eager to get it when I return from Israel in late May.
ReplyDeleteIt was nice to read about the process of getting your license knowing that I will do the same soon. When writing this I have already seen that you got your license without any more delay. I'm sure I'll enjoy my license as much as you when I get mine.
