David Week 9: Thanksgiving's Elaborate Menu
As American citizens, there are two major holidays a year in which our patriotism is demonstrated. The Fourth of July, and my personal favorite, Thanksgiving. The Fourth of July may very well be the birth of our nation, however, Thanksgiving gives us quite the scrumptious meal options. Thanksgiving is a time when your friends no longer become your friends, no, they become your family. As Mark Sinclaire, better known as Vin Diesel once said, "I don't have friends, I have family." It is unclear as to whether or not Diesel was referring to the fourth Thursday in November, but nonetheless, it really demonstrates how great a day Thanksgiving is. Oftentimes, families may argue and feel divided, however, there is one universal thing that unites all Americans. Food. The great thing about the Turkey day is its variety of delicious foods that families can eat together.
With Thanksgiving right around the corner, I want to talk about a few of my favorite Thanksgiving food. Let's start with the classic, Turkey. Turkey made well can be one of the tastiest birds I've ever had. Many have told me that they dislike turkey due to its lack of moisture, and to that, I say pshaw. They clearly have not had my father's delicious and juicy turkey. Another dish that may not be as common is cranberry crisp. One reviewer of my mother's gluten-free cranberry crisp said that it was quite "yummy". My personal favorite Thanksgiving dish is stuffing. With its rich and delicious flavor, stuffing can make anyone love Thanksgiving! What's your favorite Thanksgiving food?
I totally agree- I love Thanksgiving! My favorite Thanksgiving foods are anything sweet, like apple pie, seasoned sweet potatoes, anything pumpkin flavored, and, of course, turkey. I do, however, really enjoy July 4th, and it is hard to compare them because they are so different. July 4th is a whole different festivity that brings me memories of summer, camp, fireworks, patriotism, and friends, while Thanksgiving reminds me of fall, family, food, calmness, and appreciation. There is definitely an argument to be made for both.

DeleteThanksgiving is one of my favorite holidays merely because of the delicious food and time with family. I agree with you completely that anyone who hates turkey, simply hasn't had the right one. My plate on thanksgiving consists of delicious stuffing, turkey, gravy, mashed potatoes and much more!
